Introduction

Whether you're a newcomer to the plant, or a seasoned connoisseur, you can’t deny the excitement around the industry's latest cutting-edge products. Faster onset times and innovative methods of consumption to name a few are on the rise. Among some of the newer technologies is the Bomb Electric Dab Rig, an electric rig option that offers a simplified way to consume concentrates. But in this world of new (and often pricey) technologies, what’s actually worth it? In today’s blog I’ll cover what dabbing is (for my beginner friends), discuss the difference between E-rigs and traditional rigs, and share my experience trying out the Bomb Electric Dab Rig including pros and cons to help you decide if it’s worth the investment to elevate your vaporizing experience.

What is Dabbing?

Dabbing is a method of cannabis consumption that uses concentrates known as “dabs,” which contain very potent levels of THC, and come in a variety of textures and forms. Concentrates are typically preserved with a higher terpene and cannabinoid count which can make dabbing one of the strongest, most flavourful methods of consumption. The process of dabbing involves heating the concentrate at an extremely high temperature (typically between 400-600°F) by using a dab rig and blow torch, and then inhaling the vapor.

E-rigs vs. Traditional rigs

Traditional dabbing, which has been around for centuries, would typically require a combination of a few tools:

  1. Dab rig: a specialized water pipe designed for concentrates.
  2. Nail: similar to a bowl on a bong where the concentrates are placed and vaporized.
  3. Torch: in order to heat the concentrate at a higher temperature than a lighter could.
  4. Dab tool: to pick up and place your concentrate in the nail.
  5. Carb Cap: a necessity for low temperature dabs and used to help trap the vapor inside.

E-rigs (a newer technology) on the other hand, offer a simplified option as they tend to only require:

  1. E-rig: the electronic rig itself.
  2. Atomizer: which holds the concentrate and acts as the electric heating chamber.
  3. Dab tool: to pick up and place your concentrate in the atomizer.

For someone who may be newer or more hesitant when it comes to dabbing or using concentrates, the traditional method can be really intimidating. It seems much more complicated than just lighting up a joint or taking an edible - but the results of a traditional dab rig or an E-rig can be a lot more satisfying and potentially risk reduced method for your lungs than traditional smoking.

My Experience Using the Bomb Electric Dab Rig

From the packaging, down to the usability and design, using the Bomb E-rig was a very straightforward and enjoyable experience. In terms of size and weight, it’s relatively small which means it’ll be very easy for me to store, plus if you like to stick to a more aesthetic cannabis storage situation like me, it’ll blend right into your storage space.

It also comes with all of the tools you’ll need all the way down to Q-tips for cleaning, but to me, the best parts about this are the precise temperature control and the 18mm atomizer. The precise temperature control is great because it allows me to pick the exact temperature I want, which will enable me to get the most out of my experience, whether I’m looking for something more flavor forward or potency forward. As for the atomizer, the deeper it is, the better the atomization effect and the bigger the clouds so I know I’m getting an elevated flavor experience.

Bomb E-Rig Pros vs. Cons

Bomb E-Rig Pros

1) Portability/Convenience

  • Its size and shape are very convenient, ergonomic and compact which make it easy to use and store.

2) Precise Temperature Control

  • The precise temperature control makes it customizable to each user which is definitely something traditional dab rigs lack.
  • It allows you to control your consumption experience and start low and go slow which is especially perfect for mindful consumers.

3) User Friendly

  • It doesn’t require a million extra tools which keeps things simple and straightforward.

Bomb E- Rig Cons

1) Price

  • Not cheap, but also not as expensive as competitor products like the Focus V or PuffCo
  • Worth the investment if you are looking for risk-reduced way to enjoy concentrates

2) Learning-Curve

  • If you’re someone who is on the inexperienced side with concentrates and dabbing, it might be tricky for you to figure out
  • The instruction manual is relatively straightforward but certainly not in-depth and doesn’t cover any basics.
  • Be prepared to look up some videos about using the e-rig.

3) No Carrying Case

  • If it had a carrying case, I could transport it more conveniently and without the worry of possibly breaking any pieces in the process.
  • While it’s small enough to transport, it would still be a bit of a hassle to figure out the best way to do so.

Is it Worth the Money?

So after all of that you’re probably wondering, is it really worth the money? In short, yes, but it also depends on your preferences. If you’re someone who is looking for a more approachable way to consume concentrates, or if you’re a seasoned pro who is simply just looking for the most convenient option to consume, you’re likely in the right place with the Bomb Electric Dab Rig. Use CANNABINISTA to save 10% off any Bomb Electric Rig!

The main benefit of electronic rigs is that they are using vaporization and not combustion, which is generally regarded as a risk-reduced way to enjoy cannabis concentrates.

Whether you’re here for it, or not, I still think it’s pretty amazing how far technology has come in the cannabis industry and I can’t wait to see how it continues to change in the coming years.

FAQ

Q: What temperature is best for dabbing?

A: The ideal temperature for dabbing completely depends on preference and the consistency of the concentrate. Lower temperatures between 350 - 370°F will likely provide a smoother more flavourful experience, whereas high temperatures from 450 - 700°F will give you the thickest vapor clouds and fastest onset. Finding the best temperature for dabbing really just comes down to personal preference, so when experimenting always remember to start low and go slow for best results.

Q: Are electronic dab rigs worth it?

A: If you’re someone who looks for convenience first, electronic dab rigs are definitely where it's at when it comes to dabbing. Not needing extra tools like a blow torch and carb cap is really handy, and makes it easier to achieve an elevated experience.
