Introduction
If you know me, you know how much I love using dried herb vaporizers to consume that good green instead of traditional methods like smoking. Not only does dried herb vaporizing offer a much tastier consumption experience - allowing the terpenes and natural flavours of the plant to come alive, but it can also be a cleaner way of consuming. As I’ve been exploring the dried herb vaporizer world, I’ve come across some pretty cool and effective gadgets like the Iven Dry Herb Vaporizer which act as the perfect tool for vaporizing, and that AVB aka already vaped bud can be used for recipes like the infused cozy fall tea I made (recipe below).
What is a Dried Herb Vaporizer:
Dried herb vaporizing has only gained popularity within the last decade or so, but it’s been around since the 90’s. Unlike traditional smoking methods, dried herb vaporizing heats the cannabis flower to a temperature below combustion which allows users to inhale the elevated terpenes and flavor notes of the plant without the actual harmful byproducts of combustion.
Most users find that using a dried herb vaporizer as opposed to a traditional method of inhalation such as a joint or a bong offers a smoother, tastier and overall less harsh inhalation experience. It also offers an extra level of control over the temperature which allows for more customizable experiences.
One of the main reasons I love to use dried herb vaporizers (aside from a relatively cleaner inhalation experience) is their versatility. Not only have I tried using this Iven device through the traditional inhalation method but I also used the AVB (already vaped bud) from my session to make a tasty, cozy, infused tea!
I have a whole post dedicated to dried herb vaporizers where I go into more detail about what they are and what the benefits of using one might be, so feel free to check that out if you’re curious to know more!
And just to be crystal clear, dried herb vaporizing is not the same as vaping from a cartridge. I know the two terms sound very similar so if you’d like a deeper explanation into the differences feel free to check out this post where I do just that!
Cannabis Infused Tea Recipe:
Letting it steep for at least 5 minutes is the key to the infusion! (Photo by Cannabinista)
Whether it's caffeinated or not, there’s just something so comforting about a warm cup of tea - especially as the seasons start to change! After I tried out the Iven device, I used the AVB and steeped it with some other loose leaf tea in hot water for about 5 minutes.
After steeping, I removed the loose leaf tea and added some maple syrup for a bit of natural sweetness and some oat milk. Because the vaporizer had already pulled lots of the flavour notes and terpenes out of the strain I used (Milk & Cookies), I ended up with this super flavourful and tasty tea which was a perfect, soothing post session treat!
You can use any type of cannabis flower for this recipe. If you’re looking to unwind and relax at the end of the night I’d recommend using a CBD heavy strain which tends to be a great bedtime pick.
If you want to elevate the tasting experience even further, I’d recommend looking up the terpenes and flavour profiles found in the strain you plan to use, and picking a tea that would best match that flavour profile!
Ingredients:
- 1–2 teaspoons of AVB (Already Vaped Bud)
- 1 teaspoon of loose-leaf tea (or tea bag of your choice)
- 1 cup of hot water
- Sweetener (honey, maple syrup, etc.)
- Milk of choice (optional)
Instructions:
- Step 1: After vaporizing your cannabis, set aside the AVB.
- Step 2: In a mug, combine the AVB with your loose-leaf tea (or tea bag).
- Step 3: Pour your hot water over the mixture.
- Step 4: Let it steep for about 5 minutes to infuse.
- Step 5: Remove the tea, add sweetener and milk of your choice, stir, and enjoy!

Pros & Cons of the Iven Dry Herb Vaporizer:
After trying out the Iven Dry Herb Vaporizer for the first time, I honestly really enjoyed it and look forward to using it again but you know I won’t recommend a product without giving you ALL of the tea on it (no pun intended).
Something I love about this device is if you’re a water pipe user, you can easily hook the Iven up to your favourite piece using their water pipe adapter. Feel free to add it to your cart alongside the device and use my code ANNA10 for an extra 10% off!
Pros:
- Portability: Of all the dried herb vaporizers I’ve tried, this model is probably one of the most portable devices I’ve come across. It’s slim, easy to hold and even easier to put in your pocket or bag - making it super easy to travel with and carry on the go!
- Control: The Iven device has 4 different heat settings which offer a very simple way to control the level your cannabis is heated at. Generally speaking, I love consuming at lower temperatures in order to get the most flavour from the plant, but I love having the option to use a higher heat when I’m feeling like a bigger punch!
- Easy to Clean: The design of this device is very straightforward which makes it both easy to use but also (and just as important) easy to clean. The chamber and mouthpiece pop right off allowing for easy cleaning access, plus the device comes with cleaning tools which help make the whole process even easier! If you end up needing any extra cleaning tools or need to replace any parts, they have an affordable cleaning/replacement kit which can be purchased here.
- Affordable: A lot of dried herb vaporizers can be very pricey but I was pleasantly surprised at the price of this one. It’s super affordable compared to a lot of other models which is a bonus.
Cons:
- Limited Settings: While I do love that the device has four heat settings to choose from, it feels slightly limited in that you only have those 4 temperatures to try. I think my perfect dried herb device would allow me to set it at any exact temperature I want and for those of you who have your consumption practice town to a T, your ideal temp might not be one of these 4. The settings do make it very user friendly especially for newcomers to these types of devices!
Worth The Purchase?

As someone who’s tried quite a few dried herb vaporizers, I would recommend this Iven Dry Herb Vaporizer to people looking to try dried herb vaporizing without necessarily breaking the bank.
The temperature settings make it super easy to control the vaporizing experience, and it’s such a portable device that it would be the perfect place to start. I’ll definitely be bringing this around with me in my pocket to share with my friends or just to use on the go.
If you’re a plant user who’s looking to commit to a big purchase for a device that allows you all the control and technology in the world, I might splurge elsewhere, but this is definitely the perfect starting device!
