Cannabis In The News
A new article by netmeds broke down 5 different reasons to use CBD oil based skin products and I have thoughts. The main question here isā¦ Does it actually work? Hereās my personal experience:
- Topicals: From personal experience using topicals, it works well with muscle creams but needs more research. Iām still unsure if it is the cannabis or other ingredients within the products that work.
- CBD for acne: Iād say my findings are inconclusive. Iād like to see more research about this. Also, definitely be careful about ingredients that are often added such as sulfates you don't want. This is something I donāt quite understand as we should be promoting clean and natural products that align with the plant.
- Bath bombs: I absolutely love them in baths in addition to magnesium salts for post workout recovery. I have nothing negative to say here!
High Times recently shared that 3.7 million pounds of weed has been wasted in Canada since legalization in 2018! Why didnāt someone just donate it to me? Iād gladly accept š¤£ All jokes aside though, this is an insane number. There are many challenges with the cannabis industry in Canada, and the wasted weed is a reflection of the difficulties with forecasting demand and sell through. Speaking from the lens of a consumer, it can be overwhelming to know which cannabis flower to purchase and trust when you walk into a cannabis store in Toronto. For the average consumer or new cannabis user, unless you know the backstory and growing practices of every brand, itās impossible to know whatās good other than getting recommendations from budtenders. But even then, it might not always be that clear cut. The article is a great read, and here are some of my thoughts:
- There are alot of cannabis producers that are growing product that consumers donāt want. When consumers donāt buy, product sits on the shelf and expires.
- There are so many different brands and products that it is near impossible for retailers to shelf and display all brands, while also managing the sell through of every product. Especially smaller mom and pop owned brands.
- Because brands cannot advertise in Canada, it makes it difficult to even communicate with the consumer and let them know that they have product to offer! Imagine if Coca Cola was never able to pay for advertising. No onewould be drinking their sodas!
