The Future of The Cannabinista šŸŒæ

Good Morning Canna Fam! šŸŒæ

This weekā€™s newsletter is going to include our regular programming, but I also wanted to share a little more about whatā€™s been going on with me and more importantly, the direction Iā€™ll be taking Cannabinista going forward.

As some of you may know, I left my corporate job at the beginning of this year to become a full-time content creator.

Iā€™d been working corporate for 10+ years and balancing a full-time demanding job with Cannabinista was not sustainable, and I had been burnt out for over two years. In the last 6 months, Iā€™ve seen tremendous growth with Cannabinista, but the path to get to that growth, is not sustainable as I was chasing short-form content.

I worked 7 days a week, 12-14 hours per day. I was constantly producing content to post multiple times a day, engaging with my audience for 10+ hours a day, juggling way too many brand partnerships, and spreading myself so thin.

Said differently, I wasnā€™t prioritizing or focused enough, and I caused myself to be in constant anxiety, comparison mode, and never took enough time for myself to truly unplug. Add big personal changes to this, and letā€™s just say my mental was a mess.

But what kept me going during these times was you ā€” the community.

tThe engagement from all of you you, the comments, the DMs about how Iā€™ve made an impact on your relationship with cannabis - all of this kept me going. And I know we have an incredible community here that I want to continue to build and create value for.

So now, what?

Iā€™m renewing my vision and direction for Cannabinista. My #1 priority will always be to build a community and platform that provides cannabis education for the modern stoner, whether itā€™s recipe content, lifestyle content, or content that helps you learn more about cannabis and how to incorporate it into your lifestyle in a mindful way.

Iā€™m still going to do all of this, but with a renewed focus:

  1. I will start creating content for the YouTube audience, where I can build a stronger community with long-form content to provide more context and information about cannabis. It is extremely difficult to provide educational cannabis content in a short-form video. There isnā€™t enough time to discuss the nuances of such a complex topic. It will also allow me to create deeper connections with all of you, share more of my knowledge, and not have to deal with the constant censorship (not to say that YouTube doesnā€™t censor, but they at least allow for cannabis content to simply exist on their platform).
  2. I will continue to produce content for IG and TikTok, but it may look vastly different from what youā€™re used to. I believe the content will be better and more valuable to the cannabis community. I no longer want to chase trends or viral videos. I only want to produce high-quality content that I can be proud of sharing with my audience, in hopes of helping them in some way or another.
  3. I will be doubling down on strengthening our community via newsletter and in-person/online events. I want to give back to all of you by hosting monthly giveaways for newsletter subscribers. I am looking to build a private community, a place where we can connect and also 1-on-1 with me. Iā€™m currently planning a 420 event in Toronto, where I want to bring together the community to celebrate cannabis culture. Stay tuned!
  4. I will be relaunching my website in a few months. Itā€™s taken longer than I expected, but I want to do it right. My new website will be much more user-friendly and be able to provide you with the cannabis information youā€™re looking for in seconds.

Thank you all for being part of my journey, and being part of the Cannabinista community. I value every one of your opinions, so if you have any feedback or information you want to share, please send me an email to community@thecannabinista.com.

For now, letā€™s stay connected via my newsletter, and my Instagram DMs will always be open. Take care canna fam, and I look forward to building this cannabis community with you šŸƒšŸ’Ø

Cannabis In The News

  • Germany Approved Marijuana Legalization Bill: Germany's parliament has approved a new law allowing recreational cannabis use, permitting individuals over 18 to possess up to 25g in public and 50g in private. Smoking in public will be legal from April 1, aiming to curb the black market and protect consumers. Non-commercial "cannabis social clubs" will distribute limited amounts, and individuals can grow up to three plants at home. However, opposition remains due to concerns about youth drug use and illicit market activity. The government plans to evaluate the law's impact and consider licensed sales in the future. Opposition parties may repeal the law if they gain power, making Germany unlikely to become a cannabis tourism hub like Amsterdam soon.
  • Instagram Flips After Snoop Dogg Posts Video Smoking in Front of Granddaughters: Snoop Dogg sparked controversy on Instagram by posting a video of himself smoking a blunt in a studio with his granddaughters present. Commenters debated whether it's appropriate for parents and grandparents to smoke cannabis around children, highlighting differing views on responsible consumption. Meanwhile, Wiz Khalifa has openly discussed his approach to parenting while being a regular cannabis user, emphasizing authenticity over societal expectations. The incident prompts discussions about societal attitudes towards cannabis use and parenting. Do you think it's right or wrong for celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa to smoke cannabis in front of their children? Send me your POV on IG!
