Instagram has been coming down hard on creators lately, and I’m not the exception. Currently, I find myself checking the status of my account multiple times a day wondering where I went wrong lol. Due to my account revolving around cannabis, I often find my content getting flagged which then leads to the app punishing me in multiple ways such as:

  • Blocking non-followers from seeing my account
  • Not pushing my account as much to my followers
  • & it could eventually lead to them removing my account altogether

That being said, thank you for being here. You have no idea how much it means to me to still have a form of communication with you when socials make it hard.

If you’re someone who enjoys my content and has not seen it on your feed as much lately, I suggest signing up for alerts under my account! It will notify you whenever I share a post, story, etc. It’s just another way to stay in touch.

Weekend Overview

I spent this past weekend re-connecting with some friends who had been away for a while. As many of you can relate to, the majority of my friends are no longer around. Our goals and careers simply brought us to different locations in the world which makes our time together that much more special.

To be cute, I decided to host a little 420 brunch with the girls. You already know I don’t drink, but mimosas are a MUST so I brought the one and only — Zele’s Orange Sativa Craft Soda. Not only is it a delicious way to get lifted, but the carbonation made it taste like a mimosa! I give it a 10/10, but that’s just me. Let me know what you think! *only available in Canada*

Cannabis In The News

  • Thai Health Minister Predicts Recreational Cannabis Ban By December: Thailand plans to reintroduce a law to make recreational cannabis illegal while allowing its medicinal use. Fines for recreational use and penalties for illegal cannabis marketing are proposed. The Health Minister emphasizes regulation to prevent misuse, particularly among children. Cannabis cultivation would require permission for medical and health purposes. This follows concerns about the societal impact despite Thailand being an early adopter of medical cannabis legalization in 2018 and full decriminalization in 2022.
  • Household spending on legal cannabis increases while illegal decreases: Statistics Canada reports a decline in household spending growth on cannabis, from 0.126% in 2021 to 0.039% in 2023, driven by reduced spending in the unlicensed market. Medical cannabis spending also drops. Household final consumption expenditure refers to total household spending on goods and services. In 2021, the average annual spending per household in Canada was $67,126, with a median family net worth of $329,900 as of 2019.
  • Study: Legalization Not Linked To Upticks In Incidences Of Cannabis-Related Psychosis: The legalization of the Canadian marijuana market, as per a study in The Canadian Journal of Psychiatry, did not lead to an increase in cannabis-related psychotic episodes in Quebec, Canada. Researchers found no rise in psychotic incidents requiring hospitalization before and after legalization. Similar findings from other Canadian studies and a 2022 paper in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Network Open suggest that state-level marijuana legalization laws in the United States also did not result in significant increases in psychosis-related health outcomes.
  • Cheap Schemes and Big Tobacco Tricks: The Recipe for White Ash: The article warns against using OCB rolling papers due to their inclusion of calcium carbonate, which can affect the colour of ash when smoking cannabis. It explains how the colour of ash is not a reliable indicator of cannabis quality and can be manipulated through various methods, including the addition of chalk to rolling papers. The article discusses court documents revealing this practice and explains the potential health implications of inhaling calcium carbonate particles. It also mentions other methods of achieving white ash, such as adding calcium and magnesium to cannabis plants or manipulating the smoking process.
