Let’s Talk Banana Bread
Now, let's talk about the OG comfort food—banana bread. This classic treat has been a kitchen staple for as long as I can remember. Born out of the genius idea to rescue those overly ripe bananas from the brink of bin-dom, banana bread has become a symbol of resourcefulness and deliciousness. Its origins trace back to the Great Depression when resourceful home bakers sought to make the most of limited ingredients. Fast forward to today, and banana bread is not just a solution for brown bananas; it's a beloved indulgence.
So, how do you serve up this timeless delight? Well, whether you're a purist who loves it warm with a smear of butter or someone with a sweet tooth adding a dollop of whipped cream, banana bread is incredibly versatile. Some even swear by pairing it with a hot coffee, or tea or slathering on some peanut butter for an extra kick. However you slice it, banana bread is the ultimate crowd-pleaser that transcends generations and trends.
WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS RECIPE

- Moist and muffin-like texture that is oh-so addicting
- Sweet melted chocolate chips in every bite
- Make this recipe all in one blender!
Ingredient Substitutions
- Rolled Oats: My favourite oats to bake with are rolled oats because they give a lovely chewy texture that creates a lot more depth to my baked goodies. Recommend going for gluten-free oats if you can!
- Bananas: Make sure that you use super ripe bananas! The more ripe the banana, the sweeter and more moist your banana bread will be.
- Maple Syrup: Feel free to substitute maple syrup for another liquid sweetener like raw honey — although it might change the taste of the banana bread a little bit! For an added elevation, use my cannabis infused maple syrup recipe.
- Eggs: Substitute for flax egg if you are vegan.
- Bananas: Make sure that you use super ripe bananas! The more ripe the banana, the sweeter and more moist your banana bread will be.
- Cannabis Infused Olive Oil: If you don’t have infused olive oil, use infused coconut oil or MCT oil.
- Olive Oil: I always like to balance out my infused recipes with partial regular olive oil just to make sure that you don’t overpower the baked good with the herby taste of cannabis.
- Vanilla Extract:This is a key ingredient! It’ll help mask some of that herbaceous cannabis odour.
- Stevia Sweetened Chocolate Chips: I love stevia chocolate chips because theres 0g of sugar and it won’t spike your blood sugar. Great option for people trying to watch their glucose levels.
TIPS & TRICKS
- The reason why I used a blender is because it makes the banana bread less grainy and more like a muffin texture. if you don’t have access to a large blender, try using oat flour instead or you can just mix all the ingredients together by hand.
- Save some chocolate chips for adding to the top of the banana bread batter after pouring it into the loaf. This will give it the visual appeal that you see in my photo!

FAQ
Q: Is banana bread healthy?
A: Banana bread can be a healthy snack depending on the type of ingredients that you use. Generally store bought banana bread is not going to be very healthy because they use artificial sugars and preservatives in order to mass produce banana bread. But when you’re making a fresh batch of banana bread at home with whole, organic and simple ingredients, banana bread can be a healthy snack option for some. Recipe
Q: Can you put too much banana in banana bread?
A: Yes, it is possible to put too much banana in your banana bread. This would make the banana bread too wet and can impact the texture of the banana bread. If you need to add an extra banana, I would recommend adding more oats to balance out the batter so that you can maintain the texture of the banana bread as much as possible.
Q: Why is my banana bread always so dense?
A: Banana bread can come out too dense when the bananas used aren’t ripe enough. It is important to use extremely ripe bananas because the more ripe it is, the more “wet” the banana is which helps balance out the density of the banana bread.
