About The Recipe
Summer is here and it’s the perfect time to make and enjoy cannabis infused popsicles! Cannabis infused popsicles are super easy to make and can be healthy too, especially if you’re making them with whole food ingredients at home. Store bought popsicles are full of artificial sweeteners and junk filler ingredients. Whereas with homemade popsicles, you only need a couple ingredients and no fillers are needed! My favourite part about making homemade popsicles is that you can control the sweetness and use natural sweeteners. You can also make a variety of different flavours and designs as well.
Before making cannabis infused popsicles, decide on how you plan to infuse them. You can either use cannabis infused oil, or dissolvable cannabis powder, or even cannabis infused sweeteners like maple syrup, honey, etc. In this recipe, I will teach you how to make cannabis infused popsicles with cannabis oil. In order for this recipe to work, your popsicles will have to contain a creamy fat based ingredient (either dairy or dairy free) in order to bind to the cannabinoids of the oil. Don’t worry — you can still make the popsicles fruity simply by creating layers of cream with layers of fruit.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Naturally sweetened — Maple syrup is an excellent natural sweetener that contains a good source of antioxidants and nutrients
- Simply refreshing - This recipe is just perfect for those hot summer days when you want a sweet treat but its also a million degrees outside! Keep these stored in your freezer for when you need a cool pick me up.
Ingredient Substitutions
- Strawberries: I used fresh strawberries but frozen works too! You can also swap strawberries for any fruit you like.
- Coconut Cream or Greek Yogurt or Both: A fat based ingredient is required for this recipe if you are planning to infuse your popsicles with cannabis oil. I used a combination of coconut cream and greek yogurt because I did not want my popsicles to be overly coconut-like.
- Maple Syrup: Sweetener isn’t necessary but I find that it helps round out the sweetness of the popsicle, especially if your fruits aren’t super sweet or ripe yet. Feel free to up your infusion game by using my infused maple syrup recipe for these popsicles!
- Potato Starch: Starch powder is meant to keep the fruit part of the popsicle together. You can use cornstarch or any other thickening powder.
- Cannabis Oil: Feel free to use THC or CBD or a hybrid oil. I recommend using an oil with minimal herb taste as it can really overpower the taste of your popsicles if you use too much.
TIPS & TRICKS
- If you’re someone who likes their popsicles with some bits of fruit in there, don’t blend the fruit until completely smooth. Leave the consistency how you’d prefer it!
- Get these popsicle molds from Amazon
- Be patient with the popsicles, if you can let them solidify for an entire day
