About The Recipe
Trying out cannabis infused tea isn't just a good alternative to the usual morning routine, it's a great way to have a relaxed start to your day. Whether you're looking for something different from the usual wake and bake or just want a slow morning, adding cannabis to your tea gives you a nice mix of chill and rejuvenation.
Personally, I like doing this when mornings get a bit too much, with a bit of CBD oil, or in the evenings when I want to unwind with some THC oil. Let's explore the simple joy of making cannabis infused tea together, enhancing both the relaxing and therapeutic aspects of tea time.
How did tea and weed happen?
The intertwining history of cannabis and tea dates back centuries, with roots embedded in diverse cultures and practices. While the precise moment of the first cannabis and tea infusion remains elusive, historical records suggest that cannabis infused beverages have been part of traditional medicinal practices in various regions, particularly in Asia and the Middle East.
Ancient texts from China mention the use of cannabis in herbal concoctions, hinting at its potential incorporation into tea rituals. The dynamic blend of cannabis and tea is not just a historical curiosity; it's a harmonious fusion of two botanical worlds that can produce a unique synergy. The combination is believed to offer a balanced experience, where the calming properties of tea meet the therapeutic effects of cannabis, resulting in a beverage that carries both cultural and contemporary significance.
Features
- Stress Relief: The combination of cannabis and tea can contribute to stress reduction, with both substances possessing calming properties. This blend is often sought after for its potential to induce relaxation and alleviate tension.
- Pain Management: Cannabis is known for its analgesic properties, and when infused in tea, it can offer a natural and holistic approach to managing pain. This may be particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with chronic pain or discomfort.
- Improved Sleep: The relaxing effects of cannabis, combined with the soothing nature of tea, can create a beverage conducive to a good night's sleep. This blend is often favoured for its potential to help individuals unwind and achieve a more restful sleep experience.
Ingredient Substitutions
- Tea Leaves or Tea Bag: You can use whatever form of tea you like. If you have time to spare, opt for tea leaves as it will offer a more robust flavour. If you don’t have tea leaves, then use a tea bag instead. In this recipe, I used milk oolong tea leaves, but you can use any black tea or green tea leaves.
- Dairy Free Milk or Cream: This ingredient is essential as you will need it to bind to your cannabis oil. The more fatty, the better your cannabinoids will absorb into your body.
- Cannabis Oil: As mentioned earlier, this recipe is specifically for cannabis oil. If you choose to use decarboxylated cannabis, you will just have to mix it with your fat based ingredient and steep. outthe cannabis flower. The cannabis oil I used was infused olive oil, but you can use cannabis infused MCT oil or melted coconut oil.
- Sweetener of Choice: I personally don’t use sugar in my teas, but if you need a little bit of sweetness, I would recommend using a natural sweetener like honey or maple syrup. You can also try my cannabis infused honey or cannabis maple syrup if you want to add some extra cannabis to your drink!
TIPS & TRICKS
- I recommend investing in a bodum milk frother as this is going to be an exceptional tool for blending your milk and cannabis oil together. Not only does it heat up your milk, but it also whisks everything together and creates a lovely froth or foam. If you don’t have this tool, opt for a whisk instead.

FAQ
Q: Can I use regular milk instead of dairy-free milk?
A: Yes, you can use regular milk or any other milk alternative you prefer. However, using full-fat milk or a dairy-free option like coconut or almond milk ensures the cannabis oil binds well due to its fat content, which helps with absorption.
Q: How strong will the effects of this tea be?
A: The potency depends on the dosage of cannabis oil used and your individual tolerance. If you're new to cannabis, start with a lower amount (1 tsp) and gradually increase the dosage based on your comfort level and the effects experienced.
Q: Can I make this tea without a frother or whisk?
A: Yes, you can stir the cannabis oil into the dairy-free milk using a spoon, though it might not combine as smoothly as it would with a frother or whisk. The frothing helps emulsify the oil for a better texture and more even distribution in the tea.
