These cookies aren't just a treat; they're the perfect snack or canna gift, offering a delightful journey for anyone who craves that extra something in their daily dose of sweetness.

Chocolate Chip History

The story of chocolate chip cookies is a tale woven into the fabric of American baking traditions. In the 1930s, Ruth Wakefield, owner of the Toll House Inn, created the first chocolate chip cookie by breaking a Nestlé chocolate bar into small pieces and adding them to her cookie dough. The result was an instant hit, and Nestlé soon began producing chocolate chips for this beloved treat.

Fast forward to the cannabis culture evolution, and enthusiasts saw an opportunity to elevate the classic cookie. Infusing chocolate chip cookies with weed became a natural progression, aligning with the laid-back spirit of both the baked good and the cannabis community. The pairing of the comforting, familiar taste of chocolate chip cookies with the therapeutic effects of cannabis created a delightful synergy, turning a beloved dessert into a relaxing and enjoyable edible experience. Today, these infused cookies have become a staple, offering a delightful and discreet way to enjoy the benefits of cannabis in a familiar, tasty form.

Features

  • Classic Comfort: Cannabis-infused chocolate chip cookies provide a familiar and cozy option, perfect for those new to edibles.
  • On-the-Go Enjoyment: Cookies offer discretion and portability, making them a convenient choice for cannabis consumption anytime, anywhere.
  • Sweet Gift or Favour: These cookies make a delightful and unique gift, adding a touch of joy to special occasions or serving as a memorable party favour.

Ingredient Substitutions

  • Regular butter: As mentioned earlier, the key to making dope tasting cookies is to use a combination of cannabutter and regular butter. Having that regular butter will mask some of that weed infused butter taste.
  • White sugar: I generally don’t use white sugar in my food or recipes but because this is a classic chocolate chip cooke recipe, I had to make an exception! For folks with sugar sensitivities, use monkfruit or stevia instead.
  • Brown sugar: The combination of white and brown sugar is going to give your cookie more depth and flavour. Remember to pack the brown sugar when you’re measuring it!
  • Vanilla Extract: I recommend using a natural vanilla extract as it’s going to be alot richer and better for you than artificial extract. It is more expensive, but it’s worth it I promise!
  • Eggs: For a vegan option, use flax egg instead.
  • All Purpose Flour: I don’t usually bake with all purpose flour but I must say it is the best flour to use for a classic chocolate chip cookie recipe. I have a few other chocolate chip cookie recipes that use grain free flours, but the texture never turns out the same.
  • Chocolate: I used a trio combination of semi sweet chocolate chunks, chopped up dark chocolate bar, and chopped up dark chocolate bar with espresso and cacao nibs. It’s totally not necessary to do this, but I was just curious how the chocolate chip cookie would end up tasting!

TIPS & TRICKS

  1. If you’re using an ice cream scoop to shape your cookie dough, flatten your cookie after scooping as you don’t want the cookie to be too thick or else it won’t give that crispy edge. Unfortunately I messed up on this step so please don’t make the same mistake as me!
  2. If you want a more ooey-good center, do not chill your cookie dough. I know alot of people like chilling their cookie dough but I find that it makes the cookie too raw and messes up the baking times.
  3. Make sure your butter is at room temperature, it will be alot easier to soften the butter with the sugar!

FAQ

Q: How strong will the cannabis cookies be?

A: The strength of the cookies depends on the potency of your cannabutter and how much you consume. Be sure to calculate the dosage of the cannabutter based on its THC or CBD content, and always start with a small portion if you're unsure of the strength.

Q: Can I substitute cannabutter with regular butter?

A: Yes, you can replace the cannabutter with regular butter if you want non-infused cookies. The texture and taste of the cookies will remain the same, but they will not contain any cannabis effects.

Q: Why do I need to let the cookies sit on the baking pan before moving them to a cooling rack?

A: Allowing the cookies to sit on the baking pan for 2 minutes helps them firm up and makes them easier to transfer without breaking. It also lets the cookies finish baking from residual heat, ensuring the perfect texture.

Step 1: Calculate Potency For Your Infusion

Calculate total batch potency by entering product weight (grams), THC/THCA percentage, and CBD/CBDA percentage. Get total THC and CBD in milligrams (mg) for dosing.

(flower, wax, oil, etc)

THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive compound in cannabis, while THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is its non-psychoactive precursor found in raw cannabis

CBD (cannabidiol) is a psychoactive compound in cannabis known for its potential therapeutic benefits, while CBDA (cannabidiolic acid) is the precursor to CBD found in raw cannabis, which needs to be decarboxylated (heated) to become CBD with active properties.

(ie. butter, olive oil, coconut oil, MCT oil, alcohol)

Step 2: Calculate Potency Of Each Serving/Edible

Determine the potency per serving in your recipe by specifying the number of tablespoons of oil and the total servings. This calculation will yield the milligrams (mg) of THC and CBD in the entire recipe, as well as the amount per serving.
