About The Recipe

Imagine prepping for the ultimate chill session with a twist – enter the Sleepy Girl Gummies, a genius adaptation of the famed Sleepy Girl Mocktail. We're taking that cozy concoction of cherry juice and magnesium powder and turning it into bite-sized bliss, perfect for those who like to plan their relaxation.

However, it wouldn’t be a Cannabinista recipe without some cannabis. This is why we’ll be using my favourite nighttime go-to: CBD cannaoil. Keep in mind that the more oil you use, the stronger the potency, but too much will make the gummies come out oily. You’ve been warned.

Where did the Sleepy Girl Mocktail/Gummies come from?

The Sleepy Girl Mocktail, now a viral sensation, owes its popularity to Gracie Norton, the creative mind behind the original recipe. It all started when Gracie shared her concoction on TikTok, where her video garnered over a million views.

The momentum didn't stop there; Sierra Cooley's video featuring the drink's sleep-inducing qualities further propelled it into the social media spotlight. Cooley swears by the mocktail, attesting that it has facilitated quicker sleep onset compared to any other method she's tried. As a result, a wave of TikTok users joined the trend, recreating the Sleepy Girl Mocktail and sharing their experiences (including me). With countless videos showcasing the drink's appeal and efficacy, it's evident that many are on the quest for better sleep.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Supports Better Sleep: CBN (cannabinol) is known for its potential to promote relaxation and induce sleep. Making sleepy time gummies with CBN provides a natural and effective way to support a better night's sleep.
  • Easy Meal Prep for Edibles: Crafting sleepy-time gummies using CBN offers a convenient method for meal-prepping edibles. The process allows you to prepare a batch in advance, making it easy to incorporate into your nighttime routine without the need for daily preparation.
  • Get Creative with Flavours and Ingredients: CBN-infused gummies provide a versatile canvas for creativity. Experiment with different flavours and ingredients to tailor the gummies to your taste preferences, making the bedtime ritual a more enjoyable and personalized experience.

Ingredient Substitutions

  • Tart Cherry Juice: Pomegranate juice offers a similar tartness and health benefits like antioxidants, while providing a different but equally enjoyable flavor for the gummies.
  • Gelatin: Agar-agar is a plant-based alternative to gelatin, ideal for those who are vegan or vegetarian, and it provides a firmer texture similar to gelatin in gummy recipes.

TIPS & TRICKS

  • Ensure the gelatin fully absorbs the cold cherry juice by letting it sit for the full 3-5 minutes. This will help it dissolve completely when you mix in the warm cherry juice, preventing clumping and ensuring smooth gummies.
  • Use a silicone gummy mold for easy removal: Silicone molds are flexible, making it much easier to pop the gummies out without breaking or damaging their shape. You can also lightly spray the molds with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

FAQ

Q: Can I use a different oil instead of cannabis oil?

A: Yes, you can substitute cannabis oil with CBD oil if you want the therapeutic benefits without the psychoactive effects. The texture of the gummies will remain the same.

Q: How long do the gummies take to set in the refrigerator?

A: It usually takes about 2 hours for the gummies to fully set in the fridge, but letting them rest longer (overnight) can ensure a firmer texture.

Q: How should I store the gummies to keep them fresh?

A: Store the gummies in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will last up to one month, staying fresher and more potent if kept cool.

Step 1: Calculate Potency For Your Infusion

Calculate total batch potency by entering product weight (grams), THC/THCA percentage, and CBD/CBDA percentage. Get total THC and CBD in milligrams (mg) for dosing.

(flower, wax, oil, etc)

THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive compound in cannabis, while THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is its non-psychoactive precursor found in raw cannabis

CBD (cannabidiol) is a psychoactive compound in cannabis known for its potential therapeutic benefits, while CBDA (cannabidiolic acid) is the precursor to CBD found in raw cannabis, which needs to be decarboxylated (heated) to become CBD with active properties.

(ie. butter, olive oil, coconut oil, MCT oil, alcohol)
