Who Decided to Mix Toast and Cinnamon?
Cinnamon Sugar Chocolate Toast, although not rooted in a specific cultural tradition, has evolved as a delightful fusion of flavours enjoyed by enthusiasts worldwide. The concept of toasting bread, adding a sweet layer of cinnamon sugar, and incorporating chocolate can be traced back to the longstanding practice of enhancing the taste of simple bread with complementary ingredients.
The marriage of these flavours has likely emerged from the collective creativity of individuals seeking a comforting and indulgent breakfast experience. While it doesn't have a specific cultural origin, variations of sweet toasts can be found in diverse cuisines globally, reflecting the universal appeal of combining sweetness and warmth in a morning dish. This modern twist with cannabis infusion may well be a contemporary development, showcasing the adaptability of culinary traditions to evolving tastes and preferences.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Customizable Dosing for Personalized Experience: Allows for a subtle buzz or a more potent experience, providing a personalized wake-and-bake routine.
- Healthful Ingredients for a Nourishing Start: Rich in antioxidants from cinnamon and dark chocolate, promoting overall health.
- Replacing Traditional Morning Habits with a Flavourful Twist: Offers a unique and enjoyable alternative to enhance your morning routine, introducing an element of indulgence and relaxation.
Ingredient Substitutions
- Soft White Bread: If you don’t want to use white bread feel free to go for a different one. Whole wheat bread adds more fiber and nutrients, making the dish slightly healthier without drastically changing the texture.
- Coconut Sugar: Maple syrup provides a natural sweetness with a lower glycemic index, adding a rich flavor that pairs well with chocolate and cinnamon. Feel free to check out my infused maple syrup recipe for an added canna-infusion.
TIPS & TRICKS
- Use a lid while melting the chocolate: After assembling the bread and chocolate, place a lid over the pan to trap heat, which will help the chocolate melt faster and more evenly without overcooking the bread.
- Choose bread with a sturdy crust: Opting for slightly thicker bread or one with a good crust will prevent the bread from becoming too soggy when the chocolate melts, ensuring a perfect crispy-to-soft ratio.

FAQ
Q: Can I use chocolate chips instead of a chocolate bar?
A: Yes, chocolate chips will melt just as well and spread more evenly inside the sandwich. You may want to use about 1/4 cup of chips to match the 40g chocolate bar.
Q: Can I use a different sweetener instead of coconut sugar?
A: Absolutely! You can substitute coconut sugar with regular granulated sugar, brown sugar, or even honey for a slightly different sweetness profile.
Q: Do I need to use cannabis-infused butter?
A: No, you can use regular butter if you don’t want the cannabis infusion. The flavor and texture will remain delicious, but it will remove any cannabis-related effects. If you’d like a different infusion option, try out my infused coconut oil recipe which will also work for this toast!
