About The Recipe

Cannabis-infused brownies include cannabis as an ingredient, typically in the form of cannabis-infused butter or oil. This infusion is done to incorporate cannabinoids like THC or CBD into the brownie, providing potential psychoactive or therapeutic effects.

The brownie is keto-friendly, which is a low-carbohydrate, high-fat, and moderate-protein diet. Keto brownies often use alternative flour such as almond flour or coconut flour instead of traditional wheat flour and sweeteners like stevia or erythritol instead of sugar.

This recipe allows individuals following a keto lifestyle to enjoy a brownie while potentially experiencing the effects of cannabinoids.

This is Keto-Friendly?

Traditional brownies are made with wheat flour, which is high in carbohydrates. In keto brownies, wheat flour is often replaced with low-carb alternatives such as almond flour, coconut flour, or a combination of these. This helps keep the overall carbohydrate content low, a key principle of the ketogenic diet.

Keto emphasizes a high intake of healthy fats. Cannabis-infused butter or oil, a common ingredient in these brownies, contributes to the necessary fat content in the keto diet. Other sources of healthy fats, like eggs and nuts, may also be included in the recipe. Those who have a keto diet may find these brownies a satisfying and permissible treat within the confines of their dietary restrictions.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Sugar-Free Sweetness: Using sugar substitutes aligns with keto principles and is appealing to those looking to reduce their sugar intake without sacrificing sweetness, making it suitable for individuals with diabetes or those aiming to maintain stable blood sugar levels.
  • Dietary Inclusivity: The recipe may cater to a broader audience, including individuals with specific dietary preferences or restrictions such as low-carb, sugar-free, or gluten-free.

TIPS & TRICKS

  • Make sure to use a toothpick, chopstick or fork to see when the brownie is cooked all the way through. It’s best when there’s a tiny bit of residue left on whatever you use (makes it ooey gooey).

Recipe

SERVINGS: 9

TIME REQUIRED: 1.5 hours

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup infused butter or infused coconut oil (I prefer butter because it makes the brownies taste more decadent!)
  • 1/2 cup stevia sweetened chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup granulated monkfruit
  • 3 large eggs

Whipped Cream

  • 1-2 tbsps whipping cream per brownie
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp monkfruit

Toppings

  • Cinnamon powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F. Line an 8x8 inch pan with parchment paper or you can use a non-stick pan with a bit of butter or oil spread along the inside of the pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine all the dry ingredients and mix well.
  3. Melt the butter with half of the chocolate chips and whisk well.
  4. In another bowl, add the eggs and beat until the liquid is slightly frothy.
  5. Add the butter and chocolate chips to the eggs and continue mixing.
  6. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix together.
  7. Add the remaining chocolate chips into the batter.
  8. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 40-50 minutes. You can use a toothpick to check to see if it comes out clean if you pierce it through the brownie.
  9. Remove the pan from the oven and allow to cool completely.
  10. Remove the brownie from the pan and cut into 9 equal squares.
  11. To make the whipped cream, add whipping cream, vanilla extract, and monkfruit into a blender and blend until it turns into a whipped cream.
  12. Scoop the whipped cream on top of the brownie, and dust the top with cinnamon powder.
  13. Enjoy!

FAQ

Q: How many brownies does this make?

A: Depending on the size you cut them, this recipe will make 9 large brownies or more smaller brownies.

Q: How long will this brownie take to kick in?

A: Cannabis brownies are considered to be cannabis edibles, which means that they have to be ingested and processed by your liver before heading up to your blood brain barrier. The onset of cannabis edibles can range from person to person, and can also be impacted by a variety of factors, such as one’s metabolism. Generally cannabis edibles can take anywhere from 30 minutes all the way to 2 hours for the onset, and the experience can last between 4 to 12 hours.

Step 1: Calculate Potency For Your Infusion

Calculate total batch potency by entering product weight (grams), THC/THCA percentage, and CBD/CBDA percentage. Get total THC and CBD in milligrams (mg) for dosing.

(flower, wax, oil, etc)

THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive compound in cannabis, while THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is its non-psychoactive precursor found in raw cannabis

CBD (cannabidiol) is a psychoactive compound in cannabis known for its potential therapeutic benefits, while CBDA (cannabidiolic acid) is the precursor to CBD found in raw cannabis, which needs to be decarboxylated (heated) to become CBD with active properties.

(ie. butter, olive oil, coconut oil, MCT oil, alcohol)

Step 2: Calculate Potency Of Each Serving/Edible

Determine the potency per serving in your recipe by specifying the number of tablespoons of oil and the total servings. This calculation will yield the milligrams (mg) of THC and CBD in the entire recipe, as well as the amount per serving.
